Beautiful: The Carole King Musical by Burnie Musical Society in Burnie, Tasmania

What To Know About This Production

Before she was hit-maker Carole King - she was Carole Klein, a spunky young songwriter from Brooklyn with a unique voice. From the chart-topping hits she wrote for the biggest acts in music to her own life-changing, trailblazing success with Tapestry, Beautiful takes you back to where it all began - and takes you on the ride of a lifetime.

Featuring such unforgettable classics as "You've Got a Friend", "One Fine Day", "So Far Away", "Take Good Care of My Baby", "Up on the Roof", "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling", "Will You Love Me Tomorrow", and "Natural Woman", this Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning musical phenomenon is filled with the songs you remember - and a story you'll never forget.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Singing (all roles):

Auditionees should prepare TWO contrasting songs for their audition.

These songs should be from a musical (but not from Beautiful) and in a style that is consistent with the character you are auditioning for. This should be something that you are very comfortable with not something you learned the day before!

Please bring sheet music (in the correct key). There will be an accompanist at the audition. If photo copied please have it in an interleaved folder for the pianist.

Backing recordings are not acceptable.

Please be aware that you may not get to sing all/and/or both of your song/s Due to numbers of people to audition, so if the Audition Panel feels they have heard enough to determine your vocal quality they may stop you mid note. This should not be taken as any indicator of whether you will or will not be cast!! It simply means that we are happy with what we have heard.

Dancing: Many roles in Beautiful require dancing and there is a fair amount of dance and movement for all throughout the production. A separate dance audition will be required and will be held on Friday 4th October at St Wilfrid’s Hall, Montello.

Auditionees will be required to attend this call. Females at 6pm, Males at 8pm.
