What To Know About This Production

Described as Peter Pan with an Aussie twist, Billy Can is a son of the outback who lives for the outback sun. He takes two kids, Janelle and David, for a billy cart ride to his home among the coolabahs and that’s when the fun begins. Billy Can will be performed at the Earl Arts Centre, Launceston in January 2024.

Callbacks - Sun 17 September 2023 (Afternoon - Details TBC)


Rehearsals will be held from Sept - January. Tech week 21-25 Jan 2024. Performances 26-28 January 2024.

Available Roles

  • Billy Can - A happy-go-lucky, fun-loving hero who lives in the Never Never and travels around on his magic billy cart. As about as true-blue Aussie as you can get with a stereotypical bush-Aussie accent - he's kind of a young Steve Irwin or Russell Coight that never grows up.
  • Janelle - A sweet sixteen year old that loves to dance and has a crush on Billy. She is protective of her younger brother, David, and often tries to be the responsible (young) adult. Whilst she has an Australian accent - it is more modern day than stereotypical Aussie.
  • David - The younger brother of Janelle, David is an excitable, curious and eager young lad full of energy, keen to jump into anyone's billy cart without a second thought. A little bit cheeky and tries to show he is brave like Billy, but scares quite easily.
